To protect public health, safety, and welfare and to guard the state’s natural resources where geoscientific reviews and evaluations are required in the making of recommendations in environmental and civil projects or any geoscientific components of those projects.
To assure the competency of professional geoscientists in Louisiana through review of four qualifications: Education, License Examination Results, Experience, and Ethics.
To be the sole licensing authority for testing, validating, and licensing individuals to practice geoscience for projects that require geoscientific evaluation in the State of Louisiana.
To define, establish, publish, and enforce rules and regulations stipulating the good moral and ethical character and professional competence of the licensed geoscientist and to ensure that these standards are maintained and current.
To provide the public with a list of licensed professional geoscientists and educational materials about geoscientific licensure needed for environmental and civil projects.
